V-Rotica: Inside The World Of Virtual Reality Adult Films

Considering the amount of money that the adult entertainment industry generates on the internet and the allure of VR technology, it was only a matter of time before someone decided to combine the two to create virtual reality p*rn.  With the overabundance of free porn on the internet, it’s a highly competitive market and it’s not easy to raise money from advertisers unless you can offer something that other sites, services or products can’t.  That’s where VR comes in, making p*rn more interactive than ever.

Share your thoughts on the matter below in the comments section!

3D, immersive sex. VR porn offers users an immersive, intense experience. With 3D graphics, depth and full angle views, it’s probably the closest simulation to actually having sex with an adult film star that users can get.

A booming market. There’s a huge market for consumers of VR porn. For some people, having “normal” sexual relationships is difficult.

The world of VR. It’s a lot of fun to play video games using VR technology (this author speaks from experience). However, there are a limited number of games and apps that people are willing to pay for. Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty are one thing, but most games don’t hit that kind of commercial success.

Distributing VR content online. Offering pornographic VR material is another story. It is something that people are willing to pay for, and the market is not oversaturated yet.

In Tokyo. In Tokyo, users can go to adults-only internet cafes where users can view VR porn in a private room. For some, doing something so private in a rather public setting (despite whatever privacy the individual rooms might offer) is a little uncomfortable sounding.

A 200% increase. This new way to watch x-rated movies is witnessing massive growth with 10 of the most popular VR pornography sites growing by over 200% in 2015. That’s obviously an incredible jump in revenue.

Expected to grow at a huge rate (that’s what she said). Yes, the industry is going to get much, much bigger. And harder. Sorry. VR porn is still a relatively small industry with around 2% of adult movie fans consuming content in this way.But it’s thought that by 2025 it will be 3rd biggest virtual reality sector behind movies and games and it could be worth a staggering $1 billion.

Extremely inappropriate. Of course, when there’s a mobile device involved, there’s always the risk that some pervert on the subway will put on his VR headset and get a kick out of being wildly inappropriate in public. If you have never seen someone masturbating or looking at porn on the train, consider yourself lucky.

The history of VR. We’ve had virtual reality before. There have been many iterations on this concept of creating worlds like our own throughout history. The term ‘virtual tourism’ was first coined when machines that merged two stereoscopic images were installed in public spaces way back in 1939 – it wasn’t until 1991 that consumers had their first taste of alternate realities we now refer to as VR today.

The introduction of the Oculus. But in 2012, a student by the name of Palmer Luckey went to E3 and showed off a very early prototype of his head mounted display called Oculus. James Cormack, the co-founder of id Software was so impressed by what Luckey had achieved he announced that Doom would be compatible with Heads Up Displays (HUD), including Oculus.

Therapeutic purposes. VR technology can be used for a multitude of purposes in addition to playing games and watching videos (pornographic or otherwise). Other VR programs could help cure users of arachnophobia or even make viewers more empathetic to the plight of those living in war-torn Syria.

Making a $25-$600 investment. From that moment, VR has exploded into our consciousness once more. Companies across the world have been falling over themselves to make hardware. At the bottom end of the market is Google’s cardboard – a $25 make-it-yourself headset designed to work with your smartphone. At the top end is Luckey’s Oculus, a $599 PC-powered device complete with hand held tools to allow you to see your hands in virtual reality.

Google Cardboard is a gateway drug. Users fell over themselves trying to find superlatives to explain the experience as the above video attests. “Google Cardboard is like a gateway drug,” says Gilder. “Once people see how good this technology is, they immediately want to upgrade to a better headset.” Source: thenextweb.com.

What’s your opinion? Would you ever be curious about watching x-rated VR content? It’s not for everyone. For those of you who like watching short horror films and have access to a VR headset, I highly recommend downloading a free app called Within. The graphics are stunning and the content is fantastic.
